About us

Agama Yoga India is a branch of Agama International (based in Thailand). The branch has been running consistently in Rishikesh since 2005, inspiring and motivating spiritual seekers from all over the world.

Agama provides a foundation for creating a whole new life. In addition to helping students find their way on the yogic path and establishing a daily yoga practice, it also aims to inspire each and every individual at the school to achieve new goals and to embrace a better vision of themselves. Agama is a yoga school for spiritual seekers who are seeking for Truth.

The teachings and classes at Agama provide the space for students to improve health, increase vitality, and strengthen ambition. In addition, Agama helps students develop an intimate understanding of what energy is and how to work with energy in the body. This theoretical and experiential understanding of energy is a unique gem of this yoga system. Students become aware of energy, learn to recognize different forms of energy, understand how it influences them, and how to master energy and utilize it for a purpose.

Muktananda

Muktananda - (Founder of Agama Yoga India)

Muktananda began his search towards unfolding his innermost excellence with the guidance and love of his spiritual mentors. He trained in Neuro-linguistic Programming and kinesiology before he was directed to Agama by his two spiritual gurus from India. His yearnings led him to Rishikesh, where he met Swami Vivekananda Saraswati.

Muktananda was thrilled and fascinated by the vastness and miracles of the Yoga system which ignited within him a quest towards the infinite power and potential of being human.

Since 2003, Muktananda has been teaching Agama Yoga. He became a Yoga teacher to inspire other people and to help them evolve on their spiritual path. Yoga teaching is an evolutionary path for him, too. He prefers an action-oriented spirituality and believes that, amongst many such actions, teaching Yoga is very noble, good and beneficial to all beings. Teaching Yoga is a part of his Dharma in terms of service to humanity and Shiva. He has also been teaching Tantra since 2006 and offers Art of Dying, Tantra, and Metaphysics workshops. He teaches in English.

Muktananda appreciates how the practice of Yoga induces states of interiorization and sublime, lucid states of consciousness and can also blend and the balance the mystical and rational.
